How do we get books? How do ideas become books? As part of Waveney & Blyth Arts’ first book festival, a panel will consider the decline of independent bookshops, the expansion of self-publishing, and how books get to us. Dr Philip Langeskov (UEA Creative Writing and Publishing Project) is the chair of the panel comprising Henry Layte (from the award-winning Book Hive in Norwich and Propolis Books), Emma Bacon (local writer, illustrator and first-time publisher) and Abbie Clements (one year in at Halesworth bookshop). A screening of The Bookshop, based on Penelope Fitzgerald’s novel about her time in Southwold, at the Electric Picture Palace 7.15pm.
